Yes, sure.there was a full barf-bag of teen-pop/up-chuck on radio & in stores back then too.but heck.at least there were no drum machines, loop-tracks and highly & over-predictable sequencers, that churned out songs that resemble the extra-homogenized ooze of today. (Wow, imagine that, huh.?) The way the piece was written, crafted & "produced" was so reminiscent of styles from the late 70's/early 80's. At first I thought it was Avril Lavigne.on some sort of downer or slight sedative.then the song's "hooks".the "catchy" lines.and the rhymes, really started to intrigue me and make me think. (I have yet to watch even 1 single program of Idol.oh just poo on me, why dont'cha!). Much like a previous reviewer, I too would turn away from listening to most, or all, teenie-pop music.especially songs by an artist that "Followed-Down-The-Idol-Brick-Road"! HOWEVER.when I first heard the song, "Breakaway" via radio.I too didn't even have the faintest notion that it may be from the gal whole "stole" America's heart, on that "Idol" show.
